The process of removing the interior of a 780 down to the bare metal is no small task. Volvo technicians back in the day often complained about having to work on the 780 because many of the interior parts were different than the 700 and 900 series of the day and they were easy to break. The plastics Volvo used in the late 80s were notorious, even when new, for breaking and chipping easily. Add another 30 years of age and sun and it is almost impossible not to break a few clips and trim pieces along the way. Fortunately we have taken a part a number of 780s and have a fairly good idea how things were put together, and we have two parts cars as backups! Lots of photos, notes and “bagging and tagging” at the moment!
