The 780 was extreme tested in the hot Australian outback in 1984. The results were good overall but, no surprise, the searing hot, oven like, temperatures meant a number of the interior trim panels needed to be reengineered. After a few weeks in the sun there were issues.

With the trim shrinking and coming unglued or even cracking. Different materials and adhesives were tried until a more durable combination was found. By the time the 780 launched in March of 1985 the interior was made of these improved materials. But fast-forward 25 years and even the best materials will be compromised from the heat of the cold and the hard freezing winters, depending on where one lives.

We’re collecting experiences owners have in repairing these cracked dashboards. What techniques have you used? How well have these stood the test of time? Let’s collect and share knowledge in the forum. so we can keep as many 780’s on the road as possible.
