These almost always rust away, with the stainless steel replacements that is permanently fixed

I am not the seller, please find the ad here: https://link.marktplaats.nl/m1250515040

I do have them installed on my 780, see my project thread

Were these an aftermarket fix or recall by Volvo, or were they only installed on certain model years? I always thought they were normal, painted mild steel on all 780s.

These are an after market fix for a problem on almost any 780. The original sills are hardly rust proofed at all and because there is always condensation and leakage there the sills always rot away. Some go sooner, others later but I’m convinced every 780 will have rot there. (pictures in my project thread, and note this is an Italian 780 that had nice warm weather most of its life and even then had these sills rot)

According to my body man, these rust primarily because the drains get clogged. They outlet behind the rocker panels and are easily stopped up. Check those regularly and it should help. The sunroof and windows drain to the same place.

I have two complete windows with all metal if anyone needs them. Will get some pictures and post. There is some rust on the but the metal could be cleaned and painted. They don’t need disassembly so they should last a while.
